Klimt and Shiele

I got on the Bandwagon

Basically, I am not much of an art person. I wouldn't say it takes a lot to impress me, but I am usually underwhelmed by going to art museums. This trip to Vienna has absolutely and completely changed that. I have never taken an Art History class before, but most of the art museums I have been to before this trip have bored me with the same old Renaissance Art (gasp! I am so sorry I am unappreciative, but I saw the Mona Lisa in Paris and was pretty underwhelmed), or just blocks of color (I really don't get modern art). However, the fresco's and Klimt collection in the Belvedere, and especially the Leopold Museum (best Art Museum in Vienna in my opinion) has completely changed my mind. Dr. O's explanation of Shiele's Death and the Maiden almost brought me to tears, and her description of Klimt's thought process in painting his portrait of Sonja Knips made me become an art fan again (not that I hated art before, I am just more appreciative now). So, here are a few Klimt and Shiele paintings that I was able to take pictures of without getting caught, but I really do love all of them.
