Trip to Venezia, Italia

With Catherine and Alison!

It was fun and educational!

Venice is an absolutely beautiful place. The weather was pretty warm and muggy, even though the sky was grey (and it rained and thunderstorm-ed in the evening!), but it was an amazing break from the 2-week heatwave in Vienna. Venice is kind of exactly what you imagine; there are boat buses to get around, pizza and gelato shops everywhere, and tourists everywhere. Despite the busy city, and the weird encounters with some rude tourists, it was a very fun, relaxing, and educational weekend! We even went to the Museo Correr and found some portraits of Emperor Franz-Josef and Sisi (mentioned in my last post). We also went to one of the bordering islands, called Burano, where the fisherman's houses and all other buildings on the island are painted in bright colors.
